Train Information Crystal Palace to Hever Castle (Edenbridge)
Hello,
I am interested in finding out the best way to go from Crystal Palace to Edenbridge to see Hever Castle on a Sunday (April 13). Our plane arrives at 800 and want to drop off our luggage in Crystal Palace and kill a few hours until our room is ready in the afternoon.
Also, is there a website that would allow me to enter that information and tell me a route? I found one for London, but it doesn't seem to cover Kent.

The German Rail site provides schedules for all of Europe, and it is easy to navigate.

You'd take a train from Crystal Palace through Croyden >Oxted > Edenbridge.
But I personally do not think that would be a practical thing to do on your arrival day and especially on a Sunday. Sundays are when rail work/repairs is mostly done. You'd have to travel in from the airport to Crystal Palace, find your accommodations and then immediately head out again. BTW it is very likely your room will be ready when you arrive. It is only IF the room was used Sat. night and they checked out late that it will be unavailable. I'm willing to bet you can check in the minute you arrive.
Which airport are you arriving at? If LHR, you will have a heck of a trek getting to your B&B so it will probably be mid day at least by the time you get there.
Then, jet lagged, you want to travel down to Kent, visit Hever and then find your way back to Crystal Palace. I know I personally wouldn't do it . . . .

The UK site, www.nationalrail.co.uk is just about as friendly as the German site recommended above, but has the added advantage of providing fare information.
Janis is correct; 2 one and a half hour train journeys, each involving 2 or 3 changes of trains, is not a pleasant way to spend your first afternoon in London.

I would second what's written above - getting to Hever is a pain at the best of times. Jet lagged it would be an ordeal.
Why not just jump on a bus and go to the Dulwich picture Gallery or Horniman Museum?
