I must be doing something wrong. I am on trenitalia.com and I keep getting the message "no solution found". I have used this site several times before with no problems. I am sure I'm am doing something wrong. I need the timetable so I can book a flight from either Naples or Rome to Nice. Does anyone have a preference of those two airports?

Sorrento to Naples isn't on the trenitalia line, it is on the local circumsuviana I think....
So what train info are you looking for?
http://www.vesuviana.it/web/en
AS jamikins says, it is not trenitalia - not sure schedules are even posted but it does run pretty frequently. I think it takes about 45 minutes Sorrento to Naples? maybe later poster will have more precise info. IMO I'd pick the airport by what flight / airline I wanted to go for.
Just trying to get schedules so I can book a flight from either Naples or Rome to Nice. Figured I could take the train to either airport. Thanks vjpblovesitaly. I will try that site.
If you are going from Sorrento to Naples airport, you don't want the train at all. Book the shuttle bus Curreri (10€). It doesn't go into Naples, just to the airport. If you took the train (runs every 30 minutes so really no need to hunt schedules), you would still need to get to the airport once you got to Naples. You would have to catch a bus or get a taxi from Naples to Naples airport. No point in adding an extra layer of travel.
FWIW - I've always found flights from Naples to any part of Italy expensive.
Thanks kybourbon for the bus info. The flight from Naples to Nice is only 49€ on Easyjet, but I think it will not work for me as it departs at 9:00 AM. There is a flight that departs FCO on Easyjet for 37€, but don't think I can make that departure time either. 12:15 PM.
Partly just to fill in the gaps....
There ARE maps that show the city's Metro system extending out to the airport - but that's still several years from becoming a reality!
For the Circumvesuviana's current schedules, go to:
http://www.vesuviana.com/web/it
... and look for a link labelled "Orario valido da..." - on which they change the "from" date each time those for a new season are released!
You can expect that to have happened by May, although usually they make only minor alterations from (if the link works!)...

Note that the Curreri Viaggi buses, handy though they are for the airport, don't go through Naples - or stop at the railway station there!

Their first bus (from Sorrento at 06:30) won't be early enough for the Easyjet, although you could instead take the Circumvesuviana (starts around 6, arrives in central Naples just after 7) and then a taxi to Capodichino from the rank outside:

.... paying the "tariffe predeterminante" fare of 16 Euro, or thereabouts!
There's also the handy and very cheap Alibus service:
http://www.pbase.com/isolaverde/alibus
.... which ought to be running by then, but less frequently than later in the day...
http://www.anm.it/Upload/RES/PDF/ORARI/03%2012%20corso%20Novara%20piazza%20Garibaldi.pdf
- so, personally, I'd pay the extra to hop in a cab!
.........................
From here on Ischia we've a similarly complicated journey, and wouldn't think of scurrying up for a midday flight from FCO.
At maybe 80 or 90 Euro, it would perhaps make better sense (and certainly gives you more time in Nice) to have a driver bring you in from Sorrento....
Otherwise, and simplest of all, why not spend a night in Naples - and catch that Easyjet flight the next morning?
Peter
PS.... Mostly, it's lovely in this area during May - used to be one of our favourite times for vacationing here, ideal for stomping around:

Thanks A Brit! Beautiful pictures! Lucky you living in such a beautiful, tranquil paradise.
My pleasure - although you might rethink that description on seeing the island in August...
