Train from Torino (Turin) to Paris

Hi,

I am participating in the Masters Games in Torino (Turin) in August 2013.
Once the games are over, I am meeting my husband in Paris.

Is taking the high speed train the best way to get to Paris?

How long is the trip? The cost?

One of the best, along with flying.

Check www.voyages-sncf.com or www.trenitalia.com for schedules and fares -= act early for discounted tickets which however cannot be changed nor refunded readily or at all perhaps - not high-speed all the way so may take longer than flying but goes city center to city center - for lots of great info on European trains check out these fine IMO sites - www.seat61.com (great info on online discounted tickets); www.ricksteves.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com. You can always buy a full-fare ticket in Torino - the discounted ones are sold in limited numbers and to guarantee must be booked weeks in advance.

There is also an overnight train - www.thello.com - fares from about 59 euros - save on a night in a hotel to boo.

yeah, I think so, unless you want to pay a lot more to fly. Air France and Italia will do that route direct.

the train takes a little less than 6 hrs and costs somewhere between 50-100 euro, depending on date, type of ticket, whether advance purchases and other conditions.

Turin to Paris by TGV takes 5 relaxing hours (flying would take 3 or 4 stressful ones).

Departures from Turin to Paris are at 07:39, 10:15 & 17:35 every day.

Fares from €29 in 2nd class or €35 in 1st class pre-booked at www.tgv-europe.com. Booking opens 92 days ahead.

See the video I took last year at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B09t_WJz_mM

torino13 -- You have gotten excellent advice from Man_in_seat_61. I will be travelling the opposite route from Paris to Turin by TGV in March, and I bought my ticket at www.tgv-europe.com for €35. The site is very easy to use, and you can do an e-reservation (just print out a voucher). You can also choose your seat.

Man_in_seat_61 -- I just have to tell you how much I appreciate your website -- it's brilliant! I have used it for train travel all over the world and have recommended it many times. Thank you for providing a much needed service!

Another fan of Man in Seat 61!

(Wanted to let you know that the link took me to "content not available" - wonder if it's restricted in US? I've watched previous videos you've posted, though.)

except that it isn't five hours, it is closer to six. The train at 10:15 for example, arrives in Paris at 16:11.

A couple of more questions -- Is there just one train station in Turin?

Also can I buy my ticket on-line -- even if I live outside of Europe?

Turin actually has three train stations: Porta Nuova (the most popular and best located, I think), Porta Susa, and Torino Lingotto. All are connected by the Metro.

Yes, you can definitely buy your ticket online. I live in the U.S. and bought mine with no problem at all.

you are topping an almost 3 year old thread? Wouldn't be better to just e-mail it to yourself?
