Train from Prague to Krakow--Buy ticket on line or in Prague

Will be in Prague for 4 days and then travelling to Krakow by train(March 2005) Want to travel on the day train first class. Should I purchase ticket via rail Europe on line or wait and purchase in Prague?
Thanks in advance for any help

Try Euraide.com. They have a toll-free phone in Florida to call, too. Their main office is in Munich, and they are very well-versed on the rail system where you will be. They sell tickets at face value, plus a flat fee of $45 for shipping and handling. We bought four first-class reserved seats Vienna-Prague-Munich through them, and they saved us a lot with the Prague pass. Some of the on-line sites I searched charged quite a bit more than the face value and also didn't know how to use the Prague pass, so it pays to look around. I don't know if you will see crowded trains in March, but if you're like me it's just nice to have the ticket in hand in advance, and not have that detail once you're there.

I would buy the ticket there. The train shouldn't be full and it is cheaper at the station. Go a day or so prior to departure. If you use the compartment cars, the difference between 1st and 2nd class is not great and is a very pleasant way to travel.

Buy the tickets at the station. There may still be a special English speaking agent/window in the ticket area. Inquire!

I am also looking to go to Krakow via Prague but in a couple weeks (Aug 27, a Friday night). I arrive in Prague late Wed night, and was planning to buy tickets ( 2 couchettes) for the overnight direct train on Friday to Krakow Thursday morning.

Being that it is summer and a weekend, could this be a problem? Trying to avoid the extra charges to buy ahead if possible.

Thanks
