Train from Paris to San Sebastian

Jump to last reply

We (parents and college daughter) are travellng from Paris to San Sebastian on the train for a week's stay in late June 2015. We arrive in Paris on a Saturday night, but our accommodations in San Sebastian are not ready until Tuesday. My questions are:
1. Is there someplace in France we would want to stop and spend a night or two along the way on the train route we would be taking from Paris to Hendaye?
2. Should we just go straight to Spain and spend a night or two in the region near San Sebastian?

We will be staying in Bilbao at the end of our trip. We have been to Paris previously so staying there is not something we would need to do either. I was hoping there might be an interesting small town on the route from Paris to Hendaye that would be something to see and break up the train trip, particularly since we don't need to be in SB until Tuesday. Thank you in advance for your ideas!
