Closest tube station, if by train you mean the underground train, is Piccadilly Circus on the direct line, the Piccadilly Line, from Heathrow. No stops, no changes.

Correction, there are stops along the way but you don't get off until Piccadilly Circus.

OK -- are you thinking of an actual "train", or are you asking about the Underground/tube? This is the same as the subway/metro in other cities.

There is NO real 'train' to this location. But the underground/tube will take you within 2 blocks of the hotel.

If you want door-to-door service without having to schlepp luggage at Heathrow or from the tube station to the hotel, a car service like justairports.com will take longer than the tube and cost more, but will be VERY easy.

However - If you can easily manage your luggage on a metro, then the tube is just fine.

You could do two things that would help with your trip. Get the exact street address of your hotel, including the full postcode and key that into Google maps. Then click on Transit and it will show the tube lines, along with the underground stations. You can easily see the closest station then and any other options, in case of any closures on the tube (stations or lines being closed on weekends sometimes due to maintenance).

Then look at the tube map on www.tfl.gov.uk
Key in Heathrow Terminal ?? (whatever terminal you arrive at) and also your destination station. It will tell you how long the journey will be. Cost on an Oyster Card is shown under Tickets/Single Fares.

It can be confusing, I know I was, but the train refers to trains outside London, for example a train to Bath, or Salisbury. The 'train' inside central London is called the Underground or tube, although of course it is still a train. Get it?

The problem with Heathrow routes is that it invariably defaults to using the Heathrow Express as the system defaults to the fastest route even if that is only a few minutes faster.

It's better to use http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk - and you don't need to put in the nearest station of your destination, it accepts postcodes (W1J 0BH for Le Méridien Piccadilly) and produces maps.

But as others have said, just get the DIRECT Tube to Piccadilly Circus and walk about 500' down Piccadilly. Unless you are travelling with steamer trunks it's the simplest and cheapest option
