Train from Lake Como to Zermatt?

We're hoping to go to Lake Como in late June for a few days, and then on to Zermatt. We're not renting a car. How do we go, and how long will it take?

It depends a little on where you're staying on Lake Como, but generally speaking it will take 5-6 hours with 2-3 connections. You need to get to Milano Centrale first.

That connection is much easier from Lago Maggiore, if that is a factor.
