Train from FCO to Rome

We are arriving at the Rome airport and need to get to the main terminal in Rome. How easy is it? Are the signs easy to figure out, not knowing any Italian? We are looking forward to our trip and we hope the first few minutes there are not too crazy! thanks

the Leonardo Express train, first class only i believe, leaves frequently from the airport to Termini station in central Rome - when i was in the airport it seemed simple to find the train - just follow train symbols - a bit of a walk but inside the airport.
There is also a second-class only train that is cheaper and is more a commuter train that does not go to Termini but to Rome's Tiburtina station on the eastern edge of town - this train also stops i believe at Trastevere and Ostiense stations, which are basically in central Rome also. There have been warnings about the second-class train and bag snatchers. And this train can be much more crowded so with bags and for a seemless way in hop the Leonardo Express - costs about 10 euro i believe vs about 5 euro for the dumpier train.

Signs in FCO are in English as well as Italian, and the route to the train station is well marked. Just charge through the throng of men trying to get you to use their car services outside customs and take the escalators (down then up and another up) to the train station opposite the international terminal.
In the station you can buy tickets from a vending machine (you select which languange you want your instructions in) with a credit card. Express to Termini is 9.50 Euro.

The train signage is very good.

The train platform is higher level than the arrival lobby. Neither the escalator nor the elevator were working when I arrived; no big deal if you travelled light and can carry luggages up the stairs.

Remeber to validate the train ticket before you get on. I had to try 2 or 3 machines before I found one that printed the validation info (you can hear a dot matrix printer sound if it is working.)

Make copies of your passports/tkts/credit cards. Wear a neck pouch and money belt. We were attacked twice by gypsies within two blocks of Termini. Glad we had neck pouches and money belts!
