Depends on when you are travelling and when you book your tickets.
You can check for your dates on this site: http://www.voyages-sncf.com/
I believe you can buy tickets 3 months out.

I am trying to decide whether to purchase a pass or tickets as I go.
Here is the situation: There are 8 of us going from Biarritz to Paris in July. I am thinking to break the trip into two days, arriving in Paris the third day. Part of the group wants to travel to Blois in one day (we will be coming from Bilbao Spain) and then continue the next day to Paris. it is an all day trip to Blois from Bilbao, arriving at 9:30 PM. I would prefer to travel halfway to Blois the first day, arrive in Blois the second day and on to Paris the third day. So, what would be more economical, a rail pass or ticket as you travel? and where would be a good place to stop midway to Blois? We need some suggestions from someone who has been there done that.

www.seat61.com France good discussion of options/pass
cheap trains like a local on regional trains
always better and cheaper than pass for me.
So I always just hop regionals from 5 euro per hour or so.
