Touring Help

Hi, for my honeymoon I'll be on a 7 night cruise that ends in Rome. For the second week we're staying in Rome for 3 nights then we're driving to Tuscany. I'm trying to figure out the best way to get the most out of our trip. What to see etc. Also I would like to fit in Pisa and Venice but I think they are too far away. Any suggestions?
THANKS!

I see that you are new here - - how did I know that? click on your own name (this is one of the numerous useful tips that Fodors fails to tell you when they send you that first e-mail confirming your registration) - - we'll assume that you have also not taken the time to read the "HELP" (little tiny red letters in the upper lefthand corner) - - another oversight that Fodors fails to recommend to you to do.

Anyhow, you owe it to yourself to take a look there: http://www.fodors.com/forums/faqs.cfm - - especially http://www.fodors.com/forums/faqs.cfm#Q6 - - which I have listed below, in excerpt form, for you (my own emphasis added):

=========================

Finally, create a title - make sure it is concise and clearly describes your message (<b>and destination</b>, if applicable) -- and write your message in the space provided

==========================

Thus, when you re-post - - and you really <b>should</b> do that - - be sure and mention <b>Italy</b> in your message header.

Whatever your travel decisions, congratulations on your new life in marriage...

...welcome to the forum... and...

Best wishes,

Rex

Hi L,

Pisa is an hour from Florence by train.

An alternative is a visit to Orvieto from Rome.

See www.trenitalia.com

From where are you leaving Italy?

Rex, you seem to be easily irritated by newbees.It's a good thing for the rest of us 'cause you can repeat how everything is done.

No, I am not irritated by newbies. I seek to help everyone who uses this forum, new and veteran alike.

If newbies were to get the idea that &quot;Help&quot; is a useful message header, then many more people might use it.

Imagine for a moment how frustrating you or anyone else might be, if you came to the forum, and found that the message headers looked like this:

1. Help
2. Please
3. Need info
4. Can you tell me?

You get the idea...

You wouldn't like using a library where every volume on the shelves had printed on its spine &quot;Book&quot;...

But thanks for allowing me to clarify my motives, all the same...

To answer your ?, I would arrange a vatican tour while in Rome, we used scala reale, makes it much more interesting and informative. Skip Venice if you only have one week. I found driving outside of the cities quite easy, just keep right except to pass. You can easily pick 2 places in Tuscany, just driving around is great, but try to go to Florence

I don't know about the others, but I would suggest skipping Pisa. I wasn't terribly impressed.

Thank you to everyone who replied. This forum has been very helpful. If people don't directly answer my q's they at least post helpful names such as tour operators.
Just as an FYI Rex I appreciate the helpful hints using the site. I did as you suggested re-posting my q' including where I needed help, and oddly enough more people have responded to this post rather than the more specific post.
Thanks again all, and keep the posts coming I am a nervous traveller and need all the help I can get!
