Tot or Trans Montserrat tickets
We would like to purchase tickets to Montserrat from Barcelona BEFORE we leave for Spain from Australia so that we do not have worry about it when we are in Barcelona.
My question: if we do buy them now are they valid for any day...or do we have to specify a particular day? We were thinking that weatherwise we would like the opportunity to make a decision as to when to go, when we are there in December.
Thanks Margaret

It shouldn't be very busy in December and bear in mind that the tickets you're talking about are for the train only. There is no entrance fee for the Monastery except for the Museum which you can easily pay at the door when you visit.
Because of the uncertainty with the weather and the shorter winter daylight hours, I think I'd buy my ticket at Saintes station on the day. I notice that the "Tot" ticket includes a meal at what they call the "Restaurant". It's just a diner/cafeteria type place with not very good food so I wouldn't buy that in advance. If you're very hungry when you're there, have a look at what's on offer before you buy.

There isn't any need to buy tickets in advance for that train. It's a local commuter train, it isn't even just to go up there.
I don't think you can possibly buy tickets in advance online for a local commuter rail system like that, anyway.
Read this info, it is very description and useful on how to do this

Here is the ticket website, I don't see any way you can buy those online in advance

I did buy the ToT ticket, it worked well.

Thank you everyone for your helpful comments.
However if we do buy them from the Barcelona Tourist site now, are they valid for any day...or do we have to specify a particular day? Thanks Margaret

As Christina says, I don't think that there is any way to buy the train tickets online. You have to buy them on the day at Plaça Espanya station. The link above to the Barcelona Tourist site doesn't seem to give a link to purchase the tickets, unless you take their guided tour. (I think that this will be a coach tour in any case).

Yes there are several sites to purchase online; I just put in TOT Montserrat and there are many that allow tickets to be purchased online.
We are unsure as to whether they are valid for any day...or do we have to specify a particular day?
