does this question ever stop being asked!!!!!!! It's almost humorous, if it weren't becoming so annoying.

Everyone has forgotton when they first learned how to use their computer and did not know the jargon, what it was like. Many of us asked that question, danb, don't let them get you down.

I'm not sure if this is common in the rest of Italy, but one of the best toppings I've ever had is panna, the delicious whipped cream they artfully place on top of gelato in Rome.

http://www.pastrywiz.com/season/italy9.htm

Why do people top? The topped post never stays near the original post and who knows when the original poster will get back to their computer to look at the topped post.

If you also post to the original thread saying "I've topped Thread X for you," the person will know to look for Thread X and know approximately what time it was topped.

tonite is the first time i have checked fodors in almost a year. after seeing that capo, along with every other sarcastic no life, is posting hogwash to every topic i have searched, i remember why i stopped using it for information. you people need a chatroom, not a message board!

Good answer, jahoulih...

But it is very fleeting. I wish more people would cite the URL of a thread. Two weeks or even two years later, that makes any thread instantly, permanently easy to retrieve. Topping does not.

I top answers - - one of the chief reasons is that a newbie might never believe that a message can be 200 messages "deep" in just 24 hours after it was first posted - - and conclude that it has disappeared.

Best wishes,

Rex
