Too early to pre-book flights Crete to Rhodes and Rhodes to Athens in Oct?

I leave Crete to Rhodes Oct 8 then leave Rhodes Oct 10 to Athens. Is it too early to book those flights. I am afraid weather may interfer or should I just book them now and if something comes up maybe they will let me change them.

Any advice?

Hi A,

Book as early as possible for lowest fares.

If the flight is cancelled, they have to put you on another one.

If you decide to change your mind, that is a different problem.

Book Now. And weather seldom interferes with the flights, only with ferry departures.

Interestingly enough, on October 8 if you can catch the Olympic OA877 flight from Heraklion to Rhodes departing at 22:10 you'll save money and time since this particular flight doesn't backtrack to Athens before continuing on to Rhodes. Then from Rhodes you can get a cheap flight on Aegean back to Athens on October 10.

Thanks...
I think I will but the one from Crete to Rhodes on Oct 8 is so late at night. I was hoping to leave very early and have most of the 8th on Rhodes and all of the 9th then leave the 10th. I will check air times to see what's available and decide then but I will take your advice and book now. Thanks

OK..I checked out both airlines now and I think I have decided since the flight is so late on Oct 8 I will just leave Crete on Oct 7 on that same non-stop flight. This will give me all day the 8th and 9th on Rhodes. Then it's a non-stop from Rhodes to Athens on the 10th. I think Brotherleelove is right, weather probably won't play a part in it unless it's awful like we get here in Florida. I think I will do both flights on Olympic because Aegean does not really give you the full fare until the end and I can't tell what the taxes and fees are. And Aegean does not have ANY non-stops to Rhodes no matter what day or time and if I can avoid going to Athens first I prefer that.
Thanks A Bunch.

The Aegean flight from Rhodes back to Athens is only 36 euros plus 15 euros tax, equalling 51 euros, well-worth it to you. Olympic's rate for the same flight is 75 Euros total. If you go through the Aegean website process you can find out the price without entering any credit card numbers. You get the total price just before they're required.

I forgot to mention that Olympic's reputatin has suffered in the last few years because of unreliability and tardiness, so don't make any plans based on your arrival time, especially to catch a connecting flight out of the country. You might be delayed past your departing flight.

Thanks for the info brotherleelove. I didn't go that far on the aegean site because I wasn't quite ready to enter the credit card but I will now. Because I had heard about Olympics problems and am leary about them anyway so for the Rhodes to Athens I will use Aegean...I do not have a connecting flight out of the country that day. I just pick up a rental car and go to Kalambaka and Delphi. I am starting to get really excited about my trip now. I am sure I am going to fall in love with Greece....
