toarmina or cefalu

I have 5 days to spread out in part of our trip to Sicily. We are a family of 5. Our daughters are 21, 18 & 15. Our Sicily trip consists of 5 nights in Malta then arriving in Catania, renting a car and going to Toarmina. We don't know if we should spend 3 nights in Toarmina and then 2 in Cefalu or vice/versa.
Any suggestions?

It is Taormina.
It depends where you will fly out.
If Catania, then Cefalu first.

Taormina is good as a base. Cefalu is a completely charming town.

We spent a week in Taormina in May, 2014 and really enjoyed ourselves. Our b&b was above the town facing the bay and the views were beautiful in the morning. However, at night the view was STUNNING. We would sit on the balcony at night after returning to our room and just look to take in the scenery. Just STUNNING.

We've never been to Cefalu, but you probably can't go wrong with either destination.

Buon viaggio,

Can I ask rbciao47 where you stayed? That b&b sounds lovely. We have yet to book our stay. Thx.

andreadee - this is just the sort of problem that we've been grappling with in planning our trip to Sicily - too many choices.

we ended up choosing Taormina as the last place on our trip -it's only a hour or so from Catania so it's an easy drive back to the airport whereas Cefalu is well over 2 hours.

andreadee,

We stayed at the b&b Villa Sara:
Villa Sara
4.8 7 Google reviews
3-star hotel
Address: Via Leonardo da Vinci, 55, 98039 Taormina ME, Italy
Phone:+39 0942 28138

We booked through venere.com and reserved a room overlooking the bay. The property does not have an elevator, but was very nice and Elena was a great hostess. The main street, Corso Umberto, was a ten minute walk downhill and a twenty minute walk uphill.

Buon viaggio,
