To See The Leaning Tower of Pisa or Not?

Jump to last reply

My husband and I are planning a 2 week trip to Europe starting in Amsterdam and ending in Barcelona. We are visiting Venice and Florence in between. Time is limited for us.

Anyways, we have 3 nights in Venice and then plan to take a train to Florence for 3 nights. We have a flight from Pisa to Barcelona at 12:30pm so we have to get to Pisa from Florence.

We can forgo one night in Venice and stay in Pisa for a night and see The Leaning Tower and other attractions. Although my husband is only interested in seeing The Leaning Tower. Are there 4 star hotels in Pisa? Any recommendations if we take this route?

My question is, is it possible or doable or even worth it to take an early morning train from Florence to Pisa and see The Leaning Tower before our 12:30pm flight if we decide not to spend a night in Pisa? How much before a flight to Barcelona do you have to be at the airport? Is the train station, Leaning Tower, and airport fairly close or far apart? Lastly, we would have to take a taxi from the train station to The Leaning Tower as we will have our luggage with us and I am not a light packer! :-) Can you take a taxi to the Leaning Tower? I have read a lot about people walking 20-30 minutes from the train station. This is not an option for us.

Or is it not worth the hassle and we should go straight to the airport from the train station?
Thanks so much in advance. I love this forum and always post before a vacation and get great advice!
