1. What is your budget?

2. Are the 3 days in Paris and the 3 days in Italy inclusive or exclusive of your arrival/departure dates?

3. How do you plan to get from Paris to Switzerland to Italy?

4. Are there small children in your party?

5. What do you like to do? What don't you like to do?

6. What do you hope to get out of your trip?

7. Do you have any weird dietary restrictions?

Some people just want to watch the world burn, or in this case, their holiday.

Maybe you could at least start to figure this out on your own, instead of asking a bunch of strangers who have no idea who you are or what you're interested in. 10 days is a very, very short timeframe to visit 3 entirely separate countries.

Have you purchased airfare? If so, I hope it was an open-jaw flight.

What guidebooks and internet sites have you consulted?

If you are talking about THIS August, you are very late in your planning.

3 days, Paris is 4 nights
3 days Italy, 4 nights
4 days, Switzerland, 5 nights.
Do you have 13 nights on the ground?
How many days, including travel, do you actually have?
If your total is only 10 days, with a family of 7, you need to cut to two places/cities, or one country.

You need a minimum of 1/2 day for travel (flights in this case) from one place to another, eating up a day between Paris, Switzerland and Rome.

Italy is a big country, sightseeing wise. Which one (1) place do you want to see?
In August, most of Italy will be super hot.

Lodging for 7 may be difficult at this point. Apartment would be best, but they will be limited. That is going to take some work and research.

Do you have tickets already? If not, you want Multi-destination, into one place and out of another, not RT and not two, one way.

What is your departure place for this trip?

What kind of itinerary do you want, ideas of things to see? Becuase you already have your itinerary planned in a broad sense in terms of days. Switzerland and Italy are countries, not cities, obviously, so do you have a particular city there where you are going? And since you are spending 4 days in Switzerland, it must be of special interest so I would think you have cities picked out.

broadly
Paris
train to Switzerland (say Lausanne), spend 2 days there or Montreux, take train to Zurich
fly to Italy somewhere, one city to spend 3 days

You must have airline tickets don't you? Where are you flying home from?

Choose the city you want to visit in Italy and book a direct flight from Paris to there (if it's Turin, Milan, Verona or Venice, you may also book a TGV resp. a overnight train). From Northern or Central Italian towns, you may reach Switzerland by train, from the South by plane.

Hi, thanks for your responses. Planning to start on 25 Aug and return on 04 Sept.
In Paris we are planning for short stay,in Italy we are planning for Rome and Venice. Florence if possible

In Swiss interlaken, at.Mortise and Zurich.

We don't want to travel in length all the places, but would like to cover some important places.

Is it advisable to skip Swiss as we all wanted to visit Paris and Italy

Keep in mind how hot it will be in much of Italy. How is that for you and the family?

We still do not know age of kids or if you have tickets yet. Age of kids can really influence choices.
You have only 8 weeks to get it together for 7 people. That is a lot to plan and a lot to move around.

Starting on the 25, departing on the 4th, maybe 11 days total. Two are travel, so 10 nights, 9 days on the ground. That is a start.

Figure out the two major places you want - seems to be Paris and someplace in Italy. Fly into one, out of the other.

Arrive Paris, 3 nts, 2 & 1/2 days
Fly or train to ????? 3 nts, 2 & 1/2 days
Train or fly to Rome, 4 nts, 3 & 1/2 days

Since you have only 10 days and mainly wanted to see Paris and Italy, I probably would drop Switzerland. It just adds a lot of complications and time due to the travel. Also, you have 3 cities picked out in Italy you would like to see. Yes, drop Switzerland.

probably at least 4 days Paris, fly to Italy and spend the rest of the time there, you can take trains while there. Get a cheap budget flight between Paris and Rome, say on Easyjet. Easyjet flies from Paris Orly, a convenient Airport to many places in Italy, take your pick -- Rome or Naples or Pisa or Venice. Maybe flying from Paris to Venice, then taking the train to go to Florence and then end up in Rome for flight home would be a good idea.

I'd drop Switzerland too on this short trip.

I'd say three days Paris and the rest in Italy. On a short trip to Italy, two full days Venice, a couple of days in Florence, and the rest in Rome. Those are the "big three" cities in Italy. I'd skip Pisa on this trip, and probably Naples. Naples has Pompeii and the beautiful Bay, though.

PS--but in August, Naples and Pompeii (and Rome) will be hot, so just the "big three."

in actual fact, at that time of year, Switzerland would be a good idea, IMO, especially if the OP and family are not art experts but would just like to see see something of Europe.

IMO variety is not just the spice of life but is also the key to a great holiday as well.

While I love Switzerland myself, yes I would drop it. You simply don't have enough time to see one city and two countries in only 10 days.

Stick with Paris and one or two stops in Italy. Especially moving a group around (7 people) things take more time than you expect.

Everyone's taste is different, but if it were I, two cities (with a flight between them) would be enough for what is really only nine full days:

Aug 25 – Morning arrival - half day in Paris
Aug 26 - Paris
Aug 27 - Paris
Aug 28 - Paris
Aug 29 - Paris
Aug 30 – Morning flight - half day in Rome
Aug 31 - Rome
Sep 1 - Rome
Sep 2 – Day Trip to Florence
Sep 3 - Rome
Sep 4 - Depart Rome

I imagine the OP does not get to travel to Europe a lot and maybe this is the first time, who knows. Many of us cannot "afford" to just visit a couple cities on major trips to other continents. I mean afford in that we want to see a lot of places, that's why we travel. So two cities would be great for those who get to go to Europe all the time and have endless trips, but I am guessing the OP isn't in that category.

Ideally, I also would rather go to Switzerland in August than Italy, though. But the OP said Italy and Paris were of the prime interest, which is why I'd drop Switzerland if that is the case.

shopranam may be from a geographical area where the heat of Italy in AUgust doesn't cause concern, also. IN fact, I myself have many times visited more than two cities in 10 days, right now I have a trip planned next week where I am visiting 5 cities in 13 days!!!!! one is only for one day as I just am in a place due to plan/rail schedules not working out, just an overnighter, though.

Christina, all true, but it is fairly easy for one person or a couple to move from place to place.

The OP has 7 people, a sizable group to move around, get from hotels to train stations, etc. and still has not told us if they are children, adults, seniors, etc. The OP also has to find lodging for 7 people, again, of unknown ages, etc? Two parents and 5 kids? Two adults, 2 seniors, 3 kids? Teens?

We don't know if they have tickets yet.

The OP may not travel and may be a bit clueless, but It would help if the OP responded to specific questions and gave more information so people could give better advice.
