Tired of Parisian culture? Need something really different?

Yes, I know what a pain it can be to go to all of those dusty museums and choke down excessively thick hot chocolate at Angelina with all of those well dressed Parisians with their perfect scarves.

So here is a litte glimpse of how Parisians get away from all of that excessively sophisticated stuff in April and May at the Foire du Trône (and this is an extremely incomplete excerpt of it all).

So how come there were no "first person" views? What a great time that looks to be. The lights and colors are fantastic. Perhaps if I'm able to lose 30 years as well as pounds on my current diet and fitness program.....

Hello Kerouac - I am sorry to disrupt your thread - I am working on a presentation on the economic relations between France and China and I seem to remember that some time ago you posted photos of a Chinese business district outside of Paris. Was that you? I looked through your postings for the last year but could not find them. If it is convenient, and if you would not mind me using your photos, could you post the link again? (I will certainly give you full credit - the presentation is for my Business French class at San Jose State University). Je vous remercie en avance!

OMG, Kerouac, did you actually ride any of those insane machines? I have been really terrified too many times in my life to actually pay anyone to experience it again!

Shudder!

Cigale, the zoo will reopen in 3 years.

For the moment, the girafes have it to themselves, because they have been together for more than 50 years (well, as a herd that has babies regularly) and it was out of the question to split them up and board them in other zoos. Some of them would have died because they do not like to travel at all.

Nukesafe, I have actually been on a grand total of two of those rides in the past, including one that killed some people a couple of years ago and had to be slowed down when it finally reopened (the one with the big eagle statue on it). I pretty much thought that I was going to die when I rode it. Now it looks very calm and civilized.

OMG! Kerouac, never liked amusement parks, even as a kid. Can't imagine that one.

Kerouac - Merci, merci mille fois. Les photos sont parfaites! Si je recevra une bonne note (et je compte de recevoir une bonne note) une grande partie sera grâce à vous!

Hi K,

Do they have deep-fried macarons? Foie-gras on a stick?

Probably! I know that I hadn't eaten and I was swooning and drooling with the aroma of deep fried badness everywhere -- but I have a strong will and left hungry anyway.
