I liked the comment "gratuities, I am sure, are always welcome, but not necessary". Doesn that mean the only reason to tip is because it is "necessary"? If he was nice, he did a great job and you appreciate what he did, give him a tip.

Hi M,
Unlike the US, where most service personnel rely on tips for a living, Europeans are better paid.
A tip of 1-2 E to show that the driver did a good job is fine.
5E for extraordianry service.

Neopolitan- I am from Dallas and here it is not OK to skip the gratuity. Even if service is bad, people tip because it is socially "required" (granted, bad service only gets 10% or less but still. . .). So, I was trying to indicate that it isn't like that in Sweden.
