Tiny detail, but need to know re sncf rail ticket
I realize the SNCF PREM ticket ordered and printed on home pc has been discussed ad infinitum. However, being married to a detail-obsessed man, here is my (his) question. I have printed our PREM tickets Paris to Avignon and return. Do we have to turn them in at a SNCF ticket counter for "official tickets" or are these the actual tickets that we hand to the conductor on the train? Please help me calm my fretter half.

The question has been answered but to further clarify - the reason the printed version are the 'real' tickets is because they are nonrefundable/nonexchangeable, and have your names printed on them. You can't do anything with them but travel on the appointed date/time/route, and they are of no use whatsoever to anyone else. Full-fare tickets don't have your name printed on them (at least the Thalys ones don't) so they can be exchanged, etc.

We used them on our last trip and they are the best!! You can print out multiple copies b/c they can only be used by you so you can have a back-up in another part of your lugggage in case you lose one of the sets--one of my travel worries, losing something you need.

The reason for composting tickets is to show you've used them and so they can't be returned for a refund or used on a different date. Since these are nonrefundable and only good on a particular train, there is no need.
