Time allottment help, please!!

My husband and I will be touring Spain for about 5 weeks next spring. Part of the itinerary is worked out, but we are having difficulty sorting out how long to stay in several places. We will have a car for this portion of the trip, which gives us a bit more flexibility. (but then causes a parking issue!!) The part I would like some input/opinions on is the part after Granada. We will drive to Cordoba....have maybe 3 nights there? Then to Caceres...not sure if 1 or 2 nights there? Then to Segovia....not sure whether 2 or 3 nights there, then to Toledo and Toledo looks to need 3 nights for sure!! It's mostly the Cordoba>Caceres>Segovia part that is giving us pause. I know time spent is a subjective thing, just thought maybe some personal opinions would help sort it all out. Thanks in advance.

You don't need 3 nights in Segovia, two would probably be fine. I mainly visited the aqueduct and the old fortress/castle. Although I did find it a pleasant town and enjoyed some of the outdoor vendors there, bought several things that were nice. But they do have a cathedral and a couple museums you can visit if you have more time than I did. You could probably do with only 2 nights in Cordoba, also, but there is more to see there than Segovia, so 3 is a relaxing pace.

It really depends on what YOU want to see and do, but personally, I was glad to have 2 full days in Cordoba and in Toledo (and they were VERY full days -- up early, on the move until late night dinners) so 3 nights would work well IMO. I spent only 1 night / about 24 hours in Segovia, but would definitely have enjoyed more time there. Unfortunately, I have been to Careers yet, so can't help you there.

Its a magnificent part of the world - enjoy!

I think the amount of time spent should be proportional to what you plan to do at each destination. There is no mention of activities.

For example, I don't know what attracted you to Segovia. If Segovia means the aqueduct, the castle, and the cathedral, you don't even need one full day.
However, if you are using Segovia as a base to visit Pedraza or La Granja Palace in San Ildefonso, you need at least a full additional day to visit these places.

Thank you, thank you....the input from all of you was quite helpful to us in making our decision! Greg, we hadn't thought of San Ildefonso until your response, now we have added it to our itinerary so we wanted the 3rd night after all!! Since we do prefer a relaxed pace, even though we spend full days sightseeing, we decided on 3 nights each for Cordoba and Segovia and 2 nights for Caceres, and took a night away from Madrid, which leaves us only 2 there. We both prefer smaller cities and towns, historical sights, and charm over museums and large cities so we are fine with our decision.
