Thanks to all who responded to my plea about ordering tickets online through Polo Museale. Your support caused the order to go through when I tried one last time before calling! Now on to how to get tickets to see San Marco. Polo Museale does not offer purchasing that particular museum online. However, a search produced two other sites as possibilities but I wasn't sure they were trustworthy. Has anyone used florence.tickets or uffizi.com and knows they're reputable? Thanks so much!!

If uffizi.com is tht museum's website I'd say it is about as reliable as thew museum itself, wouldn't YOU?
No, that's not the museum website. It's a reseller that marks up the price. The official website for the state museums in Florence is: http://www.polomuseale.firenze.it/english/Default.asp?
I wouldn't worry about an advance ticket for San Marco and I certainly wouldn't purchase from uffizi.com who is charging 11.99€ and the actual ticket cost is only 4€. I really doubt there would be a line, but the hours seem somewhat limited.

uffizi.com is a reseller; it adds a massive surcharge. The same applies for florence.tickets.
You don't need advance tickets for the Museo San Marco; there are never any lines.
Actually, that's NOT the official Uffizi website -- if you look at the bottom of the website, the copyright info shows it belongs to something called Mediatour. Usually, the email addresses of official Otalian-owned websites end with .it rather than .com.

As to the original question, I've not had any problems visiting San Marco so I'm not sure you need to worry about advance tickets. As wonderful as San Marco is (and it really is!) the majority of visitors seems to stay between the Uffizi-Accademia corridor and never make it to other sites. You'll notice that on the official Uffizi ticket sales website, it doesn't offer tickets to San Marco.

You don't need advance tickets to San Marco but definitely don't miss it! Make sure you are aware of the hours it is open. The first time we tried to go, it closed in the early afternoon and we had to wait until our nest trip to Florence. I'm not sure what days/times it is open.
Thank you all! We will just show up and enjoy Fra Angelico's wonderful art!! I appreciate learning the uffizi.com and the other are "unofficial" and take advantage of you. Polo Museale has been great for the others.
the monastery/museum in piazza san marco has only opened in the mornings since my green guide to italy was printed about 25 years ago! and that remains the position, so far from being variable, the opening hours are set in stone.
if you want to go there, get there in the morning! you can do a very nice trip by then taking the bus from the other side of the piazza up to Fiesole where you can visit the monastery of san francisco which has a very interesting -free - museum in the basement, the cathedral and the roman amphitheatre and museum. and have lunch of course!
