tickets to La Scala?

Jump to last reply

Greetings all - we will be in Milan the end of August, would dearly love to treat ourselves to an opera performance at La Scala. But we've read all sorts of negative comments about not being able to see the stage at all, or being seated on impossibly uncomfortable bar stools. I've been told it's best to call the box office directly, but I'm afraid my basic Italian would not be up to the task. Any suggestions as to the best way to get decent seats? As of checking today, there are supposedly still over 600 seats left for the date we want - what about just showing up that day?

And as an aside, if we do get tickets - is it true today that men must still wear jackets & ties?

As always, thanks so much. Maria
