tickets for Seine cruise

Is it better to buy a ticket on line for the river cruises on the Seine? By that I mean are they so crowded you run the risk of not getting on that particular day if you don't buy a ticket beforehand?
Thanks.

The Bateaux Mouches carry 1000 passengers and sail every half hour. Bateaux Parisiens carry 400-600 passengers and also sail every half hour. Vedettes de Paris and Vedettes du Pont Neuf have smaller boats, but also sail every half hour. There is no need to worry about the boats being full.

I've been on multiple crusies, and never was turned away.

Also...if I had to make recommendations, I would take the a later one...inorder tosee the bridges, buildings and Eiffel tower lit up. Also, since a lot of places serve dinner ~7:30-8, this allows for a nice meal before going...so plan your choice also based on how close it is to restaurants. One of the reasons I recommend Vedettes du Pont Neuf is its smaller size and proximity to a lot of Left Bank restos.

There is, however, an internet coupon online for Vedett4es de Pont Neuf that will save you a few Euros - might as well print it and take it with you.

I took the coupon for the Vedettes du Pont Neuf last year to save a couple euros and I'm doing the same next month. If you are looking for more savings you can pre-pay for your ride and just print out what will become your ticket?

Also, note that Vedettes de Pont Neuf leaves from (and returns to Pont Neuf) while at least two of the others leave from the Eiffel Tower. We took the Vedettes ride at a 6:00 on a Friday evening in June and had no problem getting on. The ride and commentary were great, and the location was much better for us.
