Three weeks on the Mediterranean

Planning a trip around the Mediterranean in March '98. Starting in Marrakech to: Fes, Algiers, Cairo, short Nile cruise, Jerusalem, Istanbul, Mikonos, Santorini, Athens. We're travelling alone, middle aged couple. Been to Athens before. Is this too optimistic for 3 weeks? Should we make any substitutions? Should anything be pre-booked?

Mr. Rush-- yes, it seems to me that this sounds too optimistic for 3 weeks. Wonderful--but too optimistic. Cairo takes at least a week to explore, and the same for Istanbul and Jerusalem. Plus, once you get to these places, you'll find short day trips to other destinations around the cities. My advice?-- skip Athens since you've been there, and skip Fez and Algiers since the political situtation in Algeria is growing quite dangerous. Pehaps you could make the Greek Islands and Turkey one trip, then make Egypt and Israel another trip for another time. I visited Egypt and Israel last year and I can safely say that it would take 3 weeks to a month to fully explore Egypt. It is a wonderful place.

Have fun!!
