Three nights in Chianti....What are the must sees?

My husband and I will be in Chianti for three nights....What are the must sees in Tuscany? We will have a driver pick us up at the airport in Rome and take us to our hotel in Panzano, and then we are planning on renting a car. I'd appreciate any thoughts on where to stop along the way!!

When we stayed in Panzano several years ago, there was no car rentals there. We rented the car in Rome and drove to Panzano, then on to Florence.

We drove along the coast, but it's probably faster to take the inland route. We stopped in Siena for the afternoon on the way.

Panzano is a scenic town, but not a lot there. We went to several small towns in the area for food and wine.

Radda, San Gimignano, Volterra, Siena, Greve,Castillona, and Florence to name a few. There are many wineries surrounding Panzano and we enjoyed venturing out into the countryside to have tastings. We spent a week there and never ran out things to do, places to visit. We loved Panzano.

Thanks Rich!
Originally the game plan had been to rent a car in Rome and drive the whole way...We will have been traveling all night, and I decided driving ourselves would not be the safest bet-

Thanks HappyTrvlr! We were in Greve two years ago (cruise stop in Florence...we went on a day trip to Tuscany) and feel in love with it. We are going to squeeze these few nights in ahead of our next cruise in June. What are some of the sights/wineries that you would recommend? Much appreciated!

Not sure when you're planning to be there, but some years ago we loved the afternoon we spent at the Vino al Vino festival in Panzano. It takes place every year the third weekend in September.

Be aware that there are two very different landscapes in Tuscany.

Chianti is quite luscious with terraced vines and steep hills. Once you travel south of Siena , the hills are more rolling with wheat fields and the famous cypress trees.

I wouldn't miss a drive through the backroads south of Pienza, the views may be a cliche but they are beautiful.
