Theater in London

Theater in London
We would like to go to a theater one evening while in London. I like the Open Air theater very much but they have Porgy and Bess on days that we will be there. I am not sure it will be interesting for my two teenagers. Besides, we want something British. I have looked at the Globe Theater calendar and they have King Lear. If there is nothing else, we will choose this one. Any other places we can consider? We are not interested in musicals that we have seen or can see in NYC. Thank you very much.

You can't get much more British than P. G. Wodehouse. Take a look at Perfect Nonsense, the Jeeves and Wooster play. http://www.jeevesandwoosterplay.com/ We saw it in May, and it's hilarious.

look at the national theater, the tricycle theater and donmar warehouse for what's on..many productions will not come to NYC.
Royal Shakespeare company also performs in London and is doing "two gentleman of Verona".
none of these theaters are out of doors.

I'm not sure that King Lear will be a big hit with teens given the main themes. Think Porgy & Bess would be much easier to relate to. But think Jeeves would be a much better choice as would 2 gentlemen.

It is independent enough to supply good advice about seating arrangements in various theatres, always a touchy subject because the old theatres can contain less-than-desirable locations. Some of these seats show up on the last-minute ticket kiosk operation. If you are startled to see a front-row seat at half price, the reason may be that it is so close to the stage that the best view is of the cast's kneecaps.
