We booked rooms for two couples for the nights of June 18, 19 and 20. No problems, just corresponded by e-mail directly with hotel. Hotel is near the Town Hall and Tivoli. Never been to Copenhagen but the hotel looks to be okay. The company owns 9 hotels in Copenhagen. From all I have read a car is not necessary in Copenhagen. It is an easy walking city.

I always find a car useful. Having said that, parking can be a pain in the rear in Copenhagen, but for getting to Roskilde, Helsingor-Kronborg Castle, and Hillerod-Fredriksberg Castle, which are all just outside the city, a car is great. You can see the sights in all three cities in one day.

All of the above can also be done easily by train. We did Fredricksborg and Kronborg in the same day and were back in Copenhagen by 6 for dinner and an evening at Tivoli. Fares on all the trains (including those) and busses are included on a Copenhagen Card.

I've just read four posts where people seemed to take it personnally that someone would rent a car instead of using the public transportation system. Of course, if you are on a budget take the bus or train. If you are not, and you want the freedom, by all means rent a car. There's far more to see in Denmark than that which can be seen from the window of a bus or train.
Parking in Copenhagen is difficult at times, but nothing like New York or San Francisco. Traffic is occassionally heavy, particularly at the center of town and at the highway exits from Copenhagen, but nothing compared to LA, or Houston or Dallas . . .

Did not take it personally at all, Snoopy. Just didn't want people to get the impression that you NEED a car in Copenhagen, because you do not. I never waited longer than 10 minutes for a bus, or 20 minutes for a train, and there was usually one sitting right there when I needed one. With my Copenhagen Card, I didn't have to figure out the whole zone thing, just got on and flashed the card. Traffic was not terrible but having bicycles whizing by on your right is disconcerting when you are not used to it and you are driving in a strange city. Parking difficult to find and confusing signs in Danish. That said, we DID rent a car the day we left Copenhagen to see the rest of the country and were glad to have it. Outside the cities, driving is easy, the roads are good, and parking in the smaller villages not a problem at all.
