The route from London to Manchester.
Hi there. I plan to travel the route from London to Manchester. I found myself a route:
http://www.routeplanner24.com/london-manchester
It says that I will go 3h 30min. How much time it will take me a trip by plane? How much time do I save?

Flying would take longer - given the time to and fro airports, checking in, going through security, waiting for the plane to leave etc.
However if you take the train from Euston station it will take a little over 2 hours.

By train from london euston to manchester piccadilly to takes 2 hrs 15mins with Virgin Trains ( First Class is excellent and cheaper if you book as far in advance advance as you can). it is also the fastest way by far. 3h 30 mins drive time is a little unrealistic (it used to take me closer to 4.5 hours and, at the wrong time of day or with traffic hold ups, a frequent occurrence, it could take a lot longer!
I also agree with the above comment that flying would take longer once you add in time to and from the airport, check in etc.. I used to fly but gave up and switched to the train

I live near Manchester, this is a well worn path for many people I know.
Pick the wrong day or just be plain unlucky and the journey can take 9 hours as it did for one friend recently.
In short, take the train.

www.virgintrains.co.uk - from £12 if you book 1-2 months ahead.

If your trip is from central London to Central Manchester, then the train is the only way to go. If you can be a bit more specific on starting and finish points, we can offer more accurate advice.
