The Ring Road in Iceland

My husband and I are thinking about a trip to Iceland in mid June. We would like to rent a car and drive the Ring Road. staying at Bed and Breakfasts along the way. We would like to spend about a week and spend no more than $4000 (including air fare.)

Is this doable for this amount of time and money?
Any ideas where to stay?
