The ones not to miss in Salzburg?
Hello,
I´ll be in Salzburg with my husband between the afternoon of May 15th (wednesday) and the early morning of May 17th (friday).
I have researched on the main sightseeings, etc. in Salzburg, but there are so many interesting things to do, can you recommend me the ones we cannot miss?
We are interested in castles, Mozart, maybe a walking tour, etc.
Your feedback is soooo welcome!

Schloss Hellbrunn;' the "trick" fountains are wonderful.
I would not bother with any so-called "Sound of Music" tours but that's up to you, obviously. That gazebo is IMO such a NON-site.
You might want to consider attending one of those Mozart evening performances but some people hate those, too!

Mozart's birthplace(apartment) with oneof his pianos is on the Getreidegasse, main pedestrian street. To get away from the spring/summer crowds a walk along the serene Salzach River is ideal. In fall, the many reiverside trees are full of changing colors. I recall staying at The Wolf Pension, a lovely b and b at the head of Getreidergasse.

Tour the Aldstadt, the fortress hanging over the town, Mozart's house, the Mirabel gardens/Schloss Heilbrun and do try to see some sort of musical performance. Also, several of the churches are lovely and can be toured with audio guides fairly quickly.

Hohensalzburg is fabulous with lots of interest and great views. The restaurant at the top has the most delicious strudel - Apfel & Topfen.
Mozart's place is not a must see for us, although we are classical music lovers. The idea of a concert in the beautiful church of St Peter's sounds fantastic.
Also a vote for Hellbrunn gardens with its trick fountains - great experience.

Thanks for your replies!
After them, I´m definitely going to Schloss Hellbrun. Do you think is a 1/2 day visit?
The concerts at St. Peter's sound terrific. Unfortunately, they begin in July.
worldinbetween, nice blog.
Thanks again!
