Cassis, St Tropez, Menton, three places on the French Riviera with three totally different characters. One conjures up an picture of a cafe scene set within an impressionist painting, the second, one of bizarre behavior, and the last of a picturesque seaside resort of faded glory. The trip wasn't meant to include the last two towns, but the distances between regions in Europe were much closer than I had imagined coming from Australia, so that we ended up having far more time than we had originally planned, and could spend some four days in each place. I have written an illustrated article at http://www.artphototravel.net/europe/cassis-st-tropez-menton-french-riviera/.

Nicely done, Les.
I visited the three several years ago.
Brought back good memories.
Les - thanks for sharing. This brought back nice memories for me too. I have been to all three, on 3 different trips. While in high school, I spent a summer month on an exchange program with a French family. They took their 2 week vacation to the Mediterranean, camping in tents in a camp ground just outside of St. Tropez. We went into St. Tropez for Bastille Day celebrations, seeing the fireworks and all the beautiful boats.
Later on, in my early 30s, I spent a week in Menton with friends, renting a house looking over the Mediterranean. We loved the town and put many miles on our rental car exploring the coast and into the Rhone Valley. We were in Arles at the same time as a ferria - a very festive time.
And finally (but really, likely not), my husband and I ended our honeymoon a few years ago in Cassis, after winding our way down through the little towns of Provence from Lyon. We enjoyed the lovely slow pace, the beautiful calanques, savoring the last few days before heading back to the States.
Thanks again!
