The Best beach in Europe
We have flown over this beach many times

Just south of Livorno.
Always wondered what a beach which looks like it should be in The Bahamas is doing in Northern Italy.
Turns out it is uncontrolled chemical waste.

I am not certainly what is meant by "Only in Italy!"
If it is meant to suggest that only in Italy can a polluted beach be beautiful, I would point out that Scotland has absolutely beautiful and absolutely polluted beaches, complete with dead seas for miles. (Scotland is still part of Britain, yes?)
If someone thinks "only in Italy" would someone allow a beautiful beach to be polluted, that's just determined bigotry. Italy doesn't have the cleanest beaches in Europe (that would be Cyprus), but it outranks France, Spain and the UK for clean beaches. In recent years, the EU has deemed dozens and dozens of UK beaches unfit for swimmers -- not due to chemical waste, but the fact that locals allow untreated human sewage to pour into their swimming beaches. Only in England!

Actually, having now read the link provided in the first post, I take it that what is meant by "Only in Italy!" is that only in Italy do the authorities put up a sign on a polluted beach alerting visitors to the hazards and actively enforcing a ban on bathing and swimming -- whereas in countries like the UK, the local authorities look at a polluted beach and hoist a flag to attract tourists, telling them it's a dandy place to swim and bathe, never mentioning the raw sewage.
But actually I do think most European countries do try to protect the safety of bathers, not just Italy. The UK is out of the norm.

I know.
We were in the Lofotens this February. Previously it was no where near my "to do" list, we just had no interest in cold weather.
Now we are totally obsessed, Lofoten particularly was stunning and we are aiming to get a visit in during the summer months.

Sandra, trouble is I've spent years working with gov/private test engineers all over the world. I'd struggle to trust anything done by local Italian testers and moved any business I could away from Italians just because of too many repeat "errors".
Still; lovely place and a great peaople held back by corruption

Amazing hills near Dublin.
1- Hill of Tara
It is an ancient site located 43 km in county Meath north Dublin, this place is not very popular but in fact, it is better then many popular places around. The site was a private property owned by a British prime minster, Luckily the Irish government bought it back (partially) to make the entry for free. Before 1974 Lord John Russell owned the place. (Slavin, 1996)
2.Hill of Slane
Located 48 km from Dublin, Slane for me is the smallest village I have seen in the world, it is by far the one with most spectacular scenery around it.It is so rich with sightseeing and heritage sites. Located on the river Boyne in county Meath the heritage capital of Ireland.

Sandra, you clearly haven't learned about Italian business or social culture during your time there.
Italians thrive on deceipt, corruption and hypocrisy at all levels in life.p
Surely you must be aware that Italians self deprecate at their inability to follow rules and the irony of the fact that they are horrifically regulated.
If you haven't gained this knowledge then your time in Italy has been an episode of box ticking tourist sites.
