The anxiety of adventure

Jump to last reply

So in 3 weeks I am leaving for Lake Maggiore, Stresa, Italy. Staying at Regina Palace, a beautiful old world hotel on the lakeside. where I can relax, see beauty, and not rush about like a city vacation. I will probably visit the islands and take an excursion to Locarno. To get there I have to drive 45 minutes to the train station, take a train to Ny (3 1/2 hours) , the Long Island RR to Jamaica, the Air Train to JFK. Flight leaves at 6:20 PM - if I get there early enough I'll try to buy a day pass to the Delta lounge.Once in Milan the Alibus to Stresa, about 1 hour. So fairly complicated though I've done worse.

I am leaving my 9 year old cat. Which always makes me anxious. She is healthy, my mother who lives 3 blocks away will take care of her and my friend will be a back up (my mother has health issues that occasionally have her in the ER). I will be gone 6 days, the longest i dare leave her.

While seeing the world is my passion, it also makes me anxious these days. I think it's more about hoping I will get back to her safely...

Anyone have any comforting thoughts? once on the plane I'm usually ok, and I'm not ready to give up traveling -- but as it gets closer I have thoughts of 'pontponing it'.... I don't do it of course (well once I cancelled a trip to Innsbruck because I thought it would just be too dark and cold at Thanksgiving - I still haven't gotten there.
