The Alhambra, Andalucia Spain

We would like to visit The Alhambra in Granada in February. Is it necessary during this off-season to have advance reservations?

We were there in March several years ago (during Holy Week!) and still had the place nearly to ourselves - I expect you will find the same in February.

There are still 1600 tickets avaiable for online sale for tomorrow, 3rd February. But some specific time slots for entry to Nazrite Palace are full. So it's still a good idea to book in advance at www.alhambra-tickets.es to avoid disappointment and queuing, even a day in advance. Booking fee is only 1 euro per ticket.

I visited the Alhambra 2 years ago in Feb and I bought my ticket online in advance. When I arrived, there was a very long line for the ticket window. So NO, you don't have to buy your ticket in advance, but you may end up spending quite a bit of time standing in line for a ticket.

Our hotel has purchased tickets for us for early April with no mark up in price.

I visited the Alhambra in February a few years ago and was very happy to have my reserved ticket for first thing in the morning. We wandered freely with no crowds for about two hours before the place became mobbed with people. I would definitely book ahead for as early as possible! Also, those taped tours can be awful but at the Alhambra it's a HUGE advantage -- the tape guides you through an otherwise pretty confusing layout and provides great information about everything you see.
