We went with city cruises from the Tower to Westminster, but you can take a longer one if you desire. We needed to get back towards westminster, so it was perfect for us. It was a good value, and the whole family enjoyed it. In about twenty minutes, we made it to where we needed to be, had a relaxing break, and saw central London from the river.

As I recall, the one I took had no specific name. I just looked for the ticket booth with the cheapest prices. However, they said something like, "Thank you for riding Westminster Party Boats." The person giving the commentary pointed out he wasn't a registered London guide, but he was very funny. I've actually taken this in two separate years, and both men were good. I think they also have shipboard duties in addition.
The odd thing is that their web site does not mention their regular public service:

westminster party boats sounded fun so i checked their website.no tour prices were listed but it seems they accept the london river card 5.60 for 1 day.the other two companies mentioned above have similar prices. what i noticed is that the london timetables end much earlier (3-6pm!) than the Paris siene cruises (10pm in winter).

If you just turn up at one of the central London piers, you will have several choices.

I don't like bus tours myself, but if you buy the Original London Bus tour, a 50-minute round trip tour from Westminster pier is included.

If you have a Visitor Travelcard for the Tube and bus, many of the river operators will give you a discount. A pleasant half-day can be spent cruising down to the Thames Barrier, back up to Greenwich, seeing the Observatory, Cutty Sark, and Maritime Museum, then returning to town on the DLR. If you have a half-hour to spare, you can walk under the Thames to Island Gardens DLR station.
