Thalys ticket, please advice.
HI,
Me and my husband are travelling from Amsterdam to Ghent with a stop in Antwerp for few hours.
I already bought Thalys tickets but only up to Antwerp. I need to change to get to Ghent-Dampoort station. Do I have to buy a local train ticket to get to Ghent on the same day or is my Thalys ticket also good from Antwerp to Ghent.
Also, same question regarding. Ghent to Cologne, already booked tickets but Thalys ticket starts
at Bruxelle Midi. Do I also to have buy belgian tickets to travel from Ghent to Bruxelle Midi ?

A Thalys ticket to Antwerp is only good for up to Antwerp. You can't go further than that without buying another ticket, in this case local train ticket.
Same with the 2nd question. A Thalys ticket starts at Bruxelle Midi will not cover Ghent.

It could be if you bought the ABS fare with your Thalys ticket.
Try to add on the ABS fare for about 5 euros to any Thalys international ticket - it lets you take any local train within 24 hours of Thalys arrival or departure.
https://www.thalys.com/be/en/offers-...elgian-station
but without that you have to buy tickets from Thalys stations to wherever - for lots about trains check www.seat61.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

What furyFluffy says is true about just about every train in Europe TMK except Thalys (which can be used on local trains in the Brussels, Liege and Antwerp local area without any extra charge- but Gent is beyond that area.
Eurostar trains have similar extensions like ABS fares on Thalys.

I was aware of that, PalenQ, I knew there was something about free train in local area going with Thalys ticket. But I also know that Ghent doesn't count as Antwerp's local area.
Anyway, your reply to the OP should be good enough for him.

Me myself did not know about free local trains until reading the Thalys ABS info. ABS is just 5 euros or so I think with a Thalys ticket so not free but a great deal as you can just hop on any non-Thalys Belgian train in your destination city.
OP =Please let me know for my info if you can now after sales add on ABS fare? Not sure. Thanks.
No domestic trains in Belgium I think even take seat reservations so just hop on.
