TGV Reservations

Hi, I have decided to forgo buying a France Italy rail pass in lieu of point to point tickets because I mainly want to travel on TGV trains (London to Paris, Paris to Avignon, and Florence to Rome), and I realized that I would only be on rail-pass worthy trains between Avignon and Florence.

My main question is - how far in advance do I need to reserve the TGV tickets? I'm fairly flexible on the time of day I travel, but static on the dates. I'll be there in late June.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The sooner that you buy your tickets, the cheaper they will be. The prems tickets are available for purchase 3 months before travel.

Just be aware of the conditions etc I always buy prems and best thing to do is try a few different dates on the tgv website using 3 or 2 months ahead of the current date as an example.
this link is pretty much the same question I asked last year

The only TGV ticket that's possible of the three train rides you mention is Paris to Avignon. Buy PREM tickets starting 3 months out from your date of travel for the best deals.

London to Paris is the Eurostar.

Florence to Rome is Trenitalia.

Book your Eurostar ticket up to 120 days in advance at eurostar.com. The longer you wait, the higher the fare. You can print your own ticket.

You can book an iDTGV ticket for Paris-Avignon up to 180 days in advance. You can book a TGV ticket up to three months in advance. The sooner you book, the cheaper the fare. To book in English go to tgv-europe.com and choose Great Britain as your country of residence. Choose France as your ticket retrieval country. You can print your own ticket or pick it up at any SNCF station in France.

There are different routes from which to choose to get from Avignon to Florence, all requiring several connections. To get the best fares, you need to book some legs on tgv-europe.com and some on trenitalia.com. What's your travel date for this ride?

If you book ASAP on trenitalia.com, you still can get a Mini fare as low as €19.00 for Florence-Rome.

For your Paris-Avignon route, SNCF will send you an email alert when tickets for the date you wish to travel go on sale.

TGV tickets are available three months in advance. iDTGV tickets are offered for sale on the same day for a range of dates. Right now they are on sale for travel up to September 14.
