I will be spending a few days in Dublin and Guiness is my favorite stout. I am planning on visiting the Guiness Storehouse, especially since it is the 250th Anniversary. Is it worth the visit?
Tell me about the Guiness Storehouse. Is it worth a trip?

It is worth it from the view of the city from the tasting room alone! Pretty good gift shop too.
I have to admit it is on my "must do" list! I have read some comments about it being disappointing and not worth going to, but I was hoping for someone to validate my need to go, so thanks, you have both convinced me.
Any recommendations for pubs that have some local brews?

Thanks for the pub info. The first and last are a little far from where we will be staying, but Keogh's and The Brazen Head are perfect. I can't wait to visit them.
I think the reason people would be disappointed would be that it isn't a brewery TOUR. It is a tourist center that is still impressive and gives the history and story of Guinness. I enjoyed it very much and the tasting center is lovely. We even had a nice lunch there of, of course, Guinness stew.
Kids are allowed in the place, and after wandering around for two hours listening to all things Guinness, they are all bugging their parents to let them try some in the tasting room. You should see the expressions on their faces when they get a swig!
I have done numerous brewery tours, so I am much more interested in the history/story of Guinness and of course the tasting. I hope there are kids around that are looking for a taste it sounds very entertaining to watch.
