Teens going to Europe with Capital One Money card
My 15yr old son is traveling to Europe and I'm curious if anyone had any issues withdrawing money from ATMs in Europe using their Capital One Money ( for teens ) card. This card don't have Chip and Pin..
Thank you!

Is it some kind of school trip? So he will only need local cash for incidentals. Only withdraw enough to last a few days (money can be lost or stolen). It should work in all ATMs with PIN. Beware of DCC. If the machine asks if he wants transaction processed in euro (or pound or whatever local currency is) or in US$, always choose the local currency option.

What is this card? Is it an ATM card that draws from a checking or savings account? Is it a pre-loaded (pre-paid) credit card? Is it a credit card? This info will help us answer the question for you.

Doesn't say anything about using it abroad. Suggest calling the number given.

Make sure you understand what happens if the card is lost or stolen and what your son would need to do. Can the account be wiped out? Will the card be quickly replaced and the account accessible? And what will be the back-up plan if it isn't?

One of the FAQs says that it can be used worldwide.
If you keep the available funds on the low side, and monitor the account regularly yourself, I wouldn't worry about the card not having a chip. There's a $500 a day limit, and maybe you can make it even lower.

We used our Capital One 360 debit card with no problems in Italy. I only used it for getting cash out of the ATM though. Online you can set up a travel notification with them. It really worked well, no transaction fees.
