Teens and parents from Rome to Paris

Jump to last reply

Ok I have posted a couple questions about our trip next May/June but after seeing other posts about traveling with babies and kids I realized I probably should ask another. Here is the very preliminary itinerary, no reservations yet made:

Fly into Rome
Five nights Rome
Train to Cinque Terre
Two nights Monterossa
Train to Milan, fly to Lyon
Pick up car and drive to ??????? For three nights
Drive to Paris drop off car
Four nights Paris
Fly home

The question marks are for an interesting town near Lyon or on the road to Paris. Any suggestions?

My question is will daughters age 21 and 19 enjoy this itinerary? One mentioned beach or at least being on the Mediterranean - that s why Cinque Terre. But maybe here is a better choice on the journey?

I realize I have been planning this trip through my eyes not theirs. We are 53 and 54. Tuscany doesn't sound likely to be interesting to them. Maybe Pompei or
Lucca instead of Cinque Terre? Or maybe Geneva instead?

Where to stay in France three nights before Paris? Or maybe 7 nights Paris with day trips to Reims or Giverny?

We are not experienced European travelers so all help is appreciated! Our 2008 trip to Germany and Italy w/o kids was fabulous because of all the advice I received on this board.
