Taxi from Warsaw Airport to Marriott Downtown

Hi all,

Hoping one of you can advise on the approximate cost of a taxi from Warsaw airport to the Marriott hotel beside the central train station. I've checked with the hotel and they told me it was 80 Zlotych - which I am a bit suspicious of as they offer a limo pickup for the same price. Would it cost 80 Zlotych for a taxi too?

Thanks,

Plates.

The Marriott bus will deliver you to the main entrance as will a taxi. To get the best taxi price you have to order it by phone. The stand taxis are more expensive as well as the gypsy operators that will chase you on your way out. Altrnatives: Airporter, It will drop you in front of the hotel. A city bus will do the same. The Airporter is safe because only hotel patrons are on board. Buy the ticket on board. There are signs to help you locate the bus stop. Be sure to have Polish currency.

I don't think there is such thing as Airporter bus for over 5 years ...

To get best taxi price You do NOT have to call and taxies at stands are not more expensive all really are phone taxies ... prices depand on corporations

Check this site for some prices ...
http://www.taniataxi.pl/warszawa/

... there were 3 taxi boots at terminal 1 (which is next door to Terminal 2) - BUT Also just follow taxi signs to official TAXI stand (I don't think gypsy taxies are permitted at those stands) and pick one by checking their prices listed in back passager right window ... All taxies even gypsy need to list ... btw some include initial charge as first km other do not ... there are 2-3 different tariffs that taxi drivers sets when you enter their car - tariff 1 is day time within city limits (that is one advertised) tarrif 2 is night time within city limits - other are for travel outside of limits ... Taxi meter should show only initial charge when you enter and taxi driver then sets meter ... Many now also accept credit cards ... (although look for signs or ask)

BTW Gypsy taxies will have only TAXI or TAKSI signs on their roofs - where Normal Taxies will have corporation name somtimes number in addition to Taxi sign (so much larger sign on roof) ...

DO NOT TAKE ANY RIDE offers from people at arrivals those are rip offs and I guess at any airport ...

to get idea of prices seems like 6zl initial charge then if day time it's 2.80zl/km ... I think it's no more then 12 actual km to Marriot / City Center ... so you price be less then 40zl ...

You have other good alternatives - city bus (public transportation) - you can buy tickets at any newspaper stand - bus # 175 starting at Airport will take you to City Center and next to Marriott for few zloty ... Unfortunatly 175 have been labeled as pick pocket heaven so just carefull with your stuff esspecially at stops right before City Center ...

Hello,

A typical taxi price to a place near Warszawa Central station is around PLN 40 at night, and less in the daytime. While the meter is running it should display a tariff number (1 in the daytime, 2 at night and on Sunday and 3 or 4 when leaving city limits or entering 2nd zone)
BUt be careful with taxis in Warsaw. It is recommended you to use one of the companies recommended by the airport authorities (Merc Taxi, MPT Radio Taxi, Ele or Sawa Taxi). On this link you can find their contact numbers and more info about taxi services in Warsaw http://www.myworldtaxi.com/cityPage.php?cityid=76
