Taxi from Rome Airport to Hotel

Our hotel has offered to pick us up at the airport and take us to our hotel for 55 Euros. Is this the best way for us to get from the airport to our hotel, or is there a better option?

Here is the website for romecabs
http://www.romecabs.com/transfers.html He gives his rates there as 45 euros for two and 5 euros for each extra person.

We are using him for a tour because he is so highly recommended on this board that I would assume he is competetive in his rates.
Enjoy..

Hello Happytrailstoyou,
I requested price quotes from three taxi companies in Rome. We have four adults with three lugagges. They replied within 24 hours and here they are:
Rome shuttle limousine [[email protected]] charges 50 euros.

ROMECABS [[email protected]] charges 55 euros.

C.P.A. Coperativa Il Sogno - Marina [[email protected]] charges 45 euros.

Hope this helps.

It is informed, quick responses such as these that make this a great forum.

Thank you.

On their site Rome Shuttle Limousine quotes a price of 35 Euro. That is the price we paid last winter, from airport to hotel in central Rome.

Rome Shuttle Limousine is in my opinion the way to go. The driver will be waiting outside of the baggage pickup area with a sign with your name on it. They charge more than the 35E for 4adults and luggage so the 50E is a good price.

well certainly a private driver is the easiest way to go...YET most expensive as well.
Now if you want to blow your hard earned money on a private driver ..have at it.
Save your hard earned dollars, and thus even more hard earned euros and take the REGULAR train for a few euros (around 4-6 ) to trastevere station or any other station...depending upon where you are staying..and then take a taxi or the tram to your hotel.

We came back from our trip to Italy and we are glad that we did not make any arragements with any taxi company beforehand in Rome. Our plane from Toronto to Rome was delayed by more than two hours and our luggage did not arrive the same time. Four of us just went to the taxi stand and the taxi driver charge us 40 euros, the standard taxi fare from airport to Rome.

Another thing to consider with the hotel private car pickup is that the car company charges you if you are late and keep them waiting.

To go from hotel to FCO we used Rome Shuttle Limousine. For three people with luggage was a fixed 35 euro. The driver arrived a half hour early in a three piece suite and took us to FCO in a Mercedes sedan. This rate was better than the hotel offered and also better than the taxi schedules I saw posted.

I don't know why the rate from FCO to your hotel would be different. An earlier poster listed the url

We used Rome Shuttle Limo a few weeks ago. After an overnight flight it's nice to find someone waiting for you with your name on a card, ready to whisk you to your hotel. The rate was 35 euros.

I just returned from a Rome vacation and spent over $1,000 on Rome Shuttle Limousine's services. I do NOT recommend them. Stay away. All over the site they advertise a Mercedes Benz fleet. Two of our rides were in dirty old cars, a Chrylser mini-van and Lancia. The latter vehicle had no air conditioning. I complained but they don't care.
