You could take a bus or cab to the train station and then a train.

adrienne,
Does it make sence to go to Sintra for one night (plain lands at 9 am in Lisbon) to spend 2 days there and the next evening go to Lisbon? Or should I just stay in Lisbon an make a day trip to Sintra from Lisbon?
Thanks

I loved Sintra so suggest you stay there overnight to see all it offers, if you have enough time. But the town is dead at night like all small towns. If you're looking for evening/night activities you won't find it in Sintra.

Having stayed 2 nights in Sintra I would never do Sintra as a day trip from Lisbon.

I found the best restaurants to be near the train station. Lower prices and better food. The restos near the center of town cater to the day trippers and the prices are very high for so so quality food.

We were in sintra and lisbon last Sept. We went directly to sintra from the airport. I dont know where you're staying in sintra. But we were picked-up from the airport by the owner of the B&B we were staying at(Casa do Valle), the price was 30 euros.

Take a taxi from the airport to Rossio train station. There is a train leaving for Sintra about every 30 min. Don't get on the first couple of cars - too many pickpockets. Go up a few cars and sit near the locals. The pickpockets won't bother them and they won't bother you either. Just be aware. I would vote for two days in Sintra, it's a nice place with lots to see.

We decided to go to Lisbon and take a day trip to Sintra.
Adrienne, I know this is not what you suggetsed, but it just too much travel in one day after a long flight. WE already reserved an apartment, so we just added one more night. Good tip regarding restaurants, I will keep that in mind.
CYESQ, thanks for the tip regarding the train, I will certanly follow your advice.

Enjoy Sintra! I completely understand about not moving around too much.

pknaster. You should be aware that we found the portions of food at restaurants were quite large all over Portugal. In fact, many times we would only order half portions.
Enjoy
