Taxi from fuimichino Airport to Rome

Our hotel will pick us up at the airport for 55 euros. Is this a good rate compared to picking up a taxi at the airport?

Thank you.

SashieZo,

It might be a bit more--someone will answer you with a taxi estimate, I'm sure. Everytime I got in a taxi in Rome I felt I was being ripped off but that was about 6 years ago. I would opt for the hotel service but I can be a wimp.

You can check the airport's website. I believe they have fixed fares. (I think a lot of airport websites have this info.)

You should take a limo if you want the best price:

I know that the taxi is supposed to be a fixed fare of 40 euros, but I was charged 50 in May '08. Also, be careful of private pick ups. I was left stranded by rome shuttle limousine. Personally, I would just stick with the hotel pick up if you are comfortable with it.

SashiZo:

I used Rome Shuttle Limousine. The charge was Euro 35, but be warned, I think the driver tried to cheat me. When I asked him how much, he said 50. When I corrected him he said oh, sorry, it's 50 in your money (American). Actually it was the equivalent of 54 USD at the time.

But overall, it was a pleasant and delightful trip from FCO. I gave him a Euro 5 tip.

Hi SZ,

55E is a good price for a limo or cab pickup.

It is high if you are sharing a shuttle van.

I paid 35 euro for a transfer from the airport to my hotel last winter. With Rome Shuttle Limos. So 55 euro is a pretty high price, in my opinion.

Here is the link; the car was a new Mercedes and the driver met us inside the airport for the private drive to the hotel in central Rome.

35 Euro.

Taxis are set fees. A taxi registered in Rome will be 40€ and a taxi registered in Fiumicino will be 60€. Take the Rome taxi. This link about the cost of taxis is from the airport website.

i used and excellent service, they were waiting for me and my husband with a sign and a nice new middle size car and took us to the Trastevere for 35 euros ( Fiumicino to
Trastevere) this was March 2007.
This year, only last Month the same service took my daughter , husband and three children 12-10-7 years old from Fuimicino to -Hotel Forty seven- near Boca de la Verita. They charge 55 eu and again were waiting with a sign, the charge is probably 10+ euro more expensive because required a larger vehicule. I highly recommend them Autoleggio Gianni Lucarino 39 340 4123621

I just got back from my first trip to Rome. What I found was we were attacked by drivers when we cleared customs. I asked several of them for the rate -- they varied -- one guy wanted 90 euro. My husband and I had heard of this scam. We continued through the crowd and found the taxi line -- it is regulated at 40 euro. Also -- NOTE -- we had an early return flight. There is a surcharge prior to 7 am. The driver tried to overcharge us. My advise is to always ask the rate before you get into a car.

I just arrived from rome and 55 euros is okay as compared to a stressful ride with rip-off taxi drivers.

We were just in Rome and we used Rome Cabs. There rate is 45 Euros. Excellent email communications. Our flight into Rome was two hours late but no problem. Driver was right there waiting for us and took us to the Marriott on the Via Veneto. Had a 7am pick up for return flight home and driver was right on time. Drivers were polite and friendly. Mercedes car from airport and Mercedes van to airport. Highly recommend. http://www.romecabs.com/
