Taxi from CDG to Paris for 4. Cost?

Traveling to Paris in October with another couple. I read that there are taxis large enough to accommodate 4 with luggage but anyone know approximate cost? Thnx. Some of us have shoulder or hip issues so don't want to lug suitcases on the RER, Roissy bus not near hotel.

The taxi dispatcher will match with a taxi that will fit your group. I have traveled in a group of 6 and had no problems getting taxis from CDG or the main train stations in Paris. There isa minor extra charge for the fourth person and for every bag after the first one put in the trunk. Cost depends on where you are going in Paris because it is not a flat rate system but generally expect to spend between 40 and 60 euros, depending on traffic and number of bags. I doubt that it will be less than 40 euros but at the high end, I have heard of people spending 85 euros for a taxi ride into Paris and I once spent 70 to get to the 15th arrondissement with a party of five and four pieces of luggage.

Thank you. I read last fall that A flat rate was possibly going to be implemented for taxis between CDG and Paris. Anyone know if it came into effect?

It is right around 50E--a bargain for people. Take a piece of paper with your destination and maybe even a small map to give to the driver, just in case.

No flat rate yet as far as I know. As noted, cost will depend in part on where in town you are going, but if you figure around 50-60 euro you should be close. I think the most I ever paid was about 50, and that was from the 15th in considerable traffic.

Just be certain to go to the official taxi queue and do not accept a ride from an of the unlicensed touts who may approach you.

We paid 100 Euro last month from CDG to Gare de Lyon for 3 of us. To add insult to injury we left our expensive camera in the taxi

We were in the official taxi queue

Wow.. that sounds awfully like a rip off Kwaussie.. did you get stuck in some particularily bad traffic?

Most it has ever cost for two of us and two bags is 63 euros( to left bank).. cheapest was about 4 years ago.. paid 49 euros!

€100?? That makes no sense. Metered fare plus €3 for the third passenger and €1 per bag after the first one. You would have to push the cab there to get the fare that high.

The 100E post is just not the usual--never heard it. We've done it probably 6 or more times. 50E

Three of us arrived at CDG at 9 a.m. on a Friday a couple of weeks ago. Taxi into the 4th was 59 euro and we had a slow driver.

On the return trip to CDG at 7 a.m. on a Sat, it cost 60 euro. We got there in 35 minutes!

I have taken shuttles a number of times but don't any more. The ones I have used require you to call them upon arrival at CDG and then there's a wait for it to pick you up. On the very eary morning return to CDG, I always worried that the shuttle wouldn't show up at the appointed time. Had that happen one time so I called and I was picked up about 30 minutes later, but it was stressful.

I've never heard of 100 euro, but I have definitely spent 60-70 from the LEft Bank, fares do depend on time of day and date of week, which some people don't seem to know. And the fare is going to be different from the north edge of Paris vs. southern edge, whcih is why just asking what the fare will be isn't going to pinpoint it that well.

Kwaussie doesn't say anything about time of day, traffic, etc., so I wouldn't say 100 euro "makes no sense." it is possible, although unlikely. I've paid 70 and traffic wasn't at a standstill, so Montparnasse at the peak fare period. Even Justine has paid 63 and I bet she wasn't going as far south as I was.

I have paid from 48€ (Sunday early am, no traffic) from the 6th to CDG and up to 76€ from CDG to the 6th (Friday pm, highway A1 was practically a parking lot up to the Peripherique).

Actually Christine I was going to the 14th.. 100 euros is a rip off.. unless there were 6 people in the car and each had a piece of luggage.. which could drive up price ( the 3 euros extra per person over 3.. and 6 for luggage.. adding a possible 15 euros to a fare.. although even then.. still assuming a high fare of 70 euros... is still too high..

100 euros is a rip off. Driver probably took the tourists via the Champs to the 11th.. they oohed and ahhed at the scenic route.

I have been to Paris many times and never paid more than 60€ but I have a question. Do the taxi drivers take, what seems to me to be the scenic route, or are they just trying to get there the fastest route avoiding traffic? I often wonder if I should learn "take the direct route please" in French or would I be shooting myself in the foot? lol. No shuttle for me but I wonder how much a limo would run?

The 100 Euro made no sense to me either. It was 8.30 pm at night and we did not seem to be caught in traffic. In hindsight I believe we took a very 'scenic' route although, as it was dark, I did not ooh or ahhh ( I saved that for when the clock ticked over 99 Euro!).

We took a shared shuttle (8 people) on the way back to CDG. It picked us up at the door and cost 58 Euro (pre paid) for the 3 of us and our luggage.

58E--which is what a taxi would have cost taken directly from the hotel to CDG.

Did you happen to notice if there was any money already on the meter when you got in the taxi? That would explain it - and also would explain that the driver was a ripoff artist. Did you hand the driver the printed address of where you were staying? If you leave out the arrondissement, there can be lots of confusion, backtracking, etc.

At night, the taxi rate is higher, and traffic at that time is usually pretty bad - but even so, you paid more than you should have. But I think 80 EU might be entirely possible and reasonable, depending on your address and especially if there was any road work that caused detours.

Yes Seamus - I think we were. Such is life. Worse things could have happened to us and we'll know better next time ;-)
