Taxi from Catania Airport to Siracusa
Car services from Catania airport to Siracusa seem to run 79 euros to 85 euros. I wonder if anyone has an idea of the cost of a regular taxi picked up at the airport on arrival. Are there typically taxis waiting? Are they plentiful at the airport? Would a metered rate be much or indeed any less? Could one negotiate a flat rate with them?
I know there is a bus and I assume a train, but after a longish trip I prefer to get where I'm going the most comfortable way and for us that would be a car going straight to our hotel.
Thanks!

Shellio - as you know I'm interested in this too, so i googled and found this on TA from 2012:
https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTo...se_Sicily.html
it was about €60 then so reckon on its having gone up since.
there are several car services on google but the TA tread also mentions a direct bus, which according to the timetable runs every hour at about 40 mins past the hour and takes 1 ¼ hours.

at €6.20 pp it sounds like quite a good deal; I assume that you can get a cab to your hotel at the other end for another few €.

Thanks annhig, I too found that TA thread from 2012 but I didn't see anything about whether or not one could just get a taxi on arrival rather than book ahead. We'll already be changing planes in Rome and one more change from bus to taxi in Siracusa sounds like one too many.
Husband says just to order a cab ahead of time since it will be late afternoon and traffic will likely be an issue. One less thing to deal with.
Thanks to all who responded.

I think if we were arriving late, we'd do the same thing. As it is we get into Catania on an early flight so we could catch the bus or we may decide to go into Catania first to have a look round.
Anyone know if there is a left luggage office at Catania train station?

BTW I've looked at TA etc but al the threads talking about left luggage at Catania are at least 2 years old; some actual websites suggest that if they were there, they aren't now.
