Switzerlnd to Amsterdam by Plane or Train?
After spending time in Lucerne and Bernese Oberland, my husband and I need to get to Amsterdam airport. What is the best way, how much time should we allow and expect to pay?
Thank you for the advice.

Interlaken to Amsterdam Airport by train in 2nd class: about 9-9.5 hours, about 300-325 CHF. A little shorter and cheaper from Luzern.
You'd have to research flights by date and the airport in Switzerland you'd use (probably Bern or Zurich). And add time and costs for getting to that airport.

Imankowski:
Easyjet serves Amsterdam from Basel. One-way fares start around $60 in august, around $30 in september. Rail is no alternative for your situation (longer, more expensive).
Check www.easyjet.com
Hope this helps, enjoy your trip.

there is also an overnight train from Zurich to Amsterdam which could work depending on when you need to be at the airport - save a cost of a night in a hotel and score really cheap online discounts at www.bahn.com - CityNightLiner or CNL - really nice overnight trains. For info on night trains and day trains, etc. check out these IMo fantastic sites - www.seat61.com (great info on the dirt-cheap online discounts); www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.seat61.com.
With the online discounts the train fare including sleeping berth could be as cheap as cheap flights and again you save a cost of a night in a hotel.

You should check if SkyWork's daily nonstop from Bern to Amsterdam fits your schedule.
www.flyskywork.com/
Given the proximity of Interlaken, there should be direct shuttle services available (check with local TI). Or take train (1hr) to Bern and use the airline's shuttle bus from station to airport.
Bern is a tiny airport and totally hassle-free.
