Switzerland vs Paris Over Easter Weekend

Jump to last reply

I will be disembarking a river cruise in Basel on Saturday morning, April 19th 2014. I am faced with a little dilemma. I want to stay in Europe for another 10 days or so. I did not chose the date, I am part of a group of travelers/friends and the date was chosen for me. I am learning that in Europe Easter is celebrated over a long weekend and primarily on Monday it seems.

I am struggling with where is best for me to go where I can enjoy my time as a tourist and where there will be at least a reasonable number of restaurants open (shopping is not a high priority) I initially was thinking Luzern for 2 days and then on to Paris. Should I skip Switzerland and go immediately to Paris? Any ideas for somewhere else in Switzerland (easy to get to from Basel) that has views and charm and maybe a little light hiking where there would be restaurants open over the holiday weekend.

My point is I am trying to be somewhere that I don't just waste my time and money sitting in a hotel/Inn with nothing to do but wait until Tuesday when things are normal again.
