Switzerland Itinerary help
Going to Wengen and Zermatt and then have 2 days before I need to get to Zurich to return home. Can anyone give me advise as to where I should go for the 2 days? I was thinking of Lucerne unless someone has a better idea. If Lucerne is a good place, can you recommend a great hotel? By the way, I will be driving. Thanks

Hi Ronjohn,
Your instincts for Luzern are good. You can get from Luzern to the Zurich airport in about an hour with 0 changes. Luzern's a great place to relax -- ferry rides on the lake, mountain peaks nearby, quaint old town.
If you're looking for an alternative, though, you could think about Basel. It's also about an hour by direct train, and has a lot of history and a charming and bustling old town.

What's your price range for a hotel? I liked Des Balances, and lots of folks here like Des Alpes. Since you have a car, you can also investigate staying in Weggis or Vitznau, where hotels are cheaper and you can get a nice room on the lake.
