Switzerland Itinerary - comments, suggestions and queries

Jump to last reply

I am going to Swtizerland as part of my Europe trip.

Will be there for 6 days. I have formed the below itinerary.
I am staying for Day1-2-3-4 in Wengen And Day 5,6 in Lucerne.

Day 1 : Arrive from Milan-Spiez. From Spiez check out the town and the castle and take the ferry on lake thun to Interlaken West and then on to Wengen, Evening just explore Wengen

Day 2 : Wengen - Mannlichen - (walk to) - Kl Scheidegg - Jungfraujoch - Kl Scheidegg - Grindelwald - Wengen - Lauterbrunnen - Wengen

Day 3 : Visit Lauterbrunnen if not done the day before and plan to visit Schillthorn if skies are clear.

Lauterbrunnen- Grütschalp-Murren-Gimmelwald-Stechelberg- Trummelbach falls-Lauterbrunnen

Lauterbrunnen - Grutschalp - TRAM (ascent)

Grutschalp-Murren-Gimmelwald - walk ---- either walk this or take other means of transport if going to Schillthorn, Schynige Platte

Gimmelwald-Stechelberg - TRAM (descent)

Stechelberg - Trummelbach falls - WALK

Visit Interlaken in the evening, have dinner there and return back to Wengen"

Day 4 :

Option 1: Take the Golden Pass Round Trip - stop at Gstaad, Montreux, Spiez on the way and explore those towns. From Spiez take a cruise on Lake Thun on to Interlaken and then train to Wengen

Option 2 : Visit Bern in the first half of the day and visit Lake Thun on the 2nd half"

Day 5 : Onto Lucerne - via Lake Brienz , Rothorn Summit,Reichenbach Falls,Aare Gorge - Arrive in Lucerne - Spend the evening chilling out in Lucerne and visit some other places like the Dying Lion Monument

Day 6 : Mt Titlis / Pilatus / Rigi - Visit Lake Lucerne in the evening or visit Zurich

Day 7 - Depart from Lucerne onto Paris

Questions

1) Day 1 : I will be coming from Venice, Italy to Milan and then on a train to Spiez. If I go direct to Wengen, then I reach at around 4 pm if there are no delays. So not much time left anyways in the day. Hence I thought that I can go via Lake Thun to Interlaken and then to Wengen. Is this a good Idea? Any good option for Lunch in Spiez?

2) Day 2 :

Is the whole trip with Jungfrau couple of small hikes doable. I guess will be back to Wengen by 4-5. Any thing else that can be done here? Any good option for Lunch in Kl Scheidegg

3) Day 2 : If There is time to do Lauterbrunnen : Then from Grindelwald we can go to Lauterbrunnen only via Wengen? If this is true then I may skip this and do Wengen - Lauterbrunnen on another day .

4) Day 3 : Is the day too tight? Lauterbrunnen, small hikes, Murren, Schilthorn , Trummelbach all in one day. Doable? Where shall I go to have lunch on this route?

5) Day 4 : Which option is better?
Is the Round Trip Golden Pass Rail worth it? Any faster way to do it?
or
Should I just spend most of the day exploring Bern.

Any other option?

6) Day 5 : I was thinking that I will be going from Wengen to Lucerne, I can send my bags to Lucerne earlier in the morning and spend the day around Lake Brienz visiting Rothorn Summit,Reichenbach Falls,Aare Gorge and then reach Lucerne and in the evening visit some near by sites in Lucerne. Is this possible in one whole day?

7) Day 6 : I am leaning towards doing Mt Pilatus. Will I have enough time to go to Zurich in the evening?

Thank you in advance for reading my long post.
